Below is a view of our chemical tab from the hallway. Notice several pieces of equipment. They are optical emission spectroscopy (Labtest V25), HGA graphite furnace (Perking Elmer 400), LECO CS244 carbon sulphur analyzer, digital balance (Mettler), and corrosion/acid cabinet. This enables HML to analyze the chemical make-up of a wide variety of materials. Sample size can consist of small fragments to solid pieces weighing 50 lbs. Elements can consist of as many as 83 elements of the periodic table.
